Botox Cosmetic™  injections are safe and effective.  One of the main advantages of this technique, is the fact that it is a minor "office" procedure.  In other words, you can receive a series of injections and return to work or your daily routine immediately without any signs or downtime.  Dr. Fialkov has also devised a technique by which Botox Cosmetic™ injections can be combined with a limited forehead lift to achieve an effective overall improvement in forehead wrinkling and brow drooping.

The main disadvantage of  is the fact that the effects of Botox™  injections are temporary, lasting anywhere from 3 to 6 months.  There is a risk of some minor bruising following the injections as well as other rare minor complications such as ptosis of the upper eyelids (droopiness)  which is temporary and unlikely to occur if the injection is performed correctly.

Skin Resurfacing  is a general term used to describe procedures that smooth finely wrinkled skin or skin with acne scarring.  The various resurfacing techniques used include:

Chemical Peel:  Reduces uneven pigmentation, fine wrinkling and general sun damage using a chemical solution to remove the top layers of the skin.  Works well for many areas including the lines around the mouth.  Effectiveness depends on the particular chemical solution (TCA,  phenol).

Dermabrasion and MicroDermabrasion: Reduces fine wrinkles and surface irregularities, including raised or deep scars (acne),   by "sanding" off the top skin layers using a high speed rotary device.  Effective around the mouth and cheeks.

The effects of skin resurfacing are generally long-lasting.  The duration does, however, depend on the particular technique, your lifestyle and your skin type.
